
The members of Issues have all been playing in bands well over 30 years.
Ray Medellin, son of a musician, started singing at age 11. He has played classic rock and blues with KC area bands including Russel Brothers, Power Plaz, Cottonmouth, and Mixt Menu. The last eventually became the band known for the last eight years as Issues. During the day Ray is a construction job superintendent.
Scotty Yates has played in many countries in a long career including a long stint in the KC Opry Show and the Jerry Presley Show, performing with legends like Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, the Carter Sisters, Hank Thompson, the Jordanaires, and The Stamps. He has also played with a long list of local bands including Lavender Hill Mob, Jungle, and Riverrock. For many years Scotty owned Scotty’s Guitar Shop in Blue Springs.
Richard Streeter has appeared as a sax player, drummer, guitarist, and vocalist. However, he is best known as a bassist/vocalist in bands such as Jungle, The Extremes, the Artists, Picture This, Everyday People, and the 4 Sknns. He has also worked as a solo artist.
Tom Thomas started playing drums at the age of 6. After trying other instruments he studied 11 years with a private teacher thru the end of high school. After a brief stumble thur college, Tom studied music at The University of Kansas. Tom has played and recorded with some of the best known bands in the Kansas City area including The Exceptions, Big John Amaro, The Kansas City Blues Band, Little Hatch, Dan Doran, Andy Coin, Larry Von Loon, Mike Bliss, Virgil Bryd, The Elders, and formally played with the band Mixt Menu and now happily back with the band which is now known as the band “Issues”.
