The Rippers 60s Tribute

The Rippers name goes back to a time right around the Summer of Love when the genesis for many of the classics you’ll hear us play were in their infancy. The AM radio airwaves crackled to life with hits from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Kinks, or numerous other bands whose sweet sounds defined much of the music we love today. For some it was surfer rock with it’s catchy riffs and infectious harmonies, psychedelic rock which sprouted from the evolved folk scene, garage bands trying to become the next big thing while emulating the British Invasion, or even blues and sweet Motown R&B being churned out of Hitsville in Detroit. Maybe it was just a great pop tune that seemingly everyone went crazy for or a slow love song that takes you back to a time when love was so innocent and free.

The music from this era is far from being time capsulized. It lives and breathes in commercials, television shows, movies, tribute bands, karaoke bars, and just about anywhere that music happens and resonates throughout our emotions and imaginations. Not only has it not gone away, it’s stronger than ever and continues to influence today’s artists. All music will at some point be considered “oldies” music. Not all music will stand the test of time. The groovy tunes covered by The Rippers continue to prove their enduring staying power. You’ll see it in every show we play as people of all ages dance and sing along to nearly every word!

Reviews

The first thing that stuck out to me was their vocal harmony. The pitches were spot on and you could feel the chemistry. The repertoire also impressed me. They cover such a large era of music and do it very well. I recommend The Rippers. They’re a great band and very easy to work with.”

-Dustin Roberson, Voodoo Lounge Manager, Harrah’s North Kansas City

“The Rippers are among our favorites! These guys are an outstanding and highly energetic group of very talented musicians. They have an excellent following of spirited folks that’ve kept our rooftop venue very busy on several Saturday nights. They’ve played for us through rain and sweltering summer nights with complete professionalism. Their show brings an abundance of fun for all ages. Our team always looks forward to their return!”

-Christina Livers, VP Business Development, The Grille at Park Place
